I realize that it has been several days since my last entry, but I am currently wallowing in an inconceivable form of misery known as the boat show. We generally have to leave the hotel before 8 in the morning in order to prepare our displays before the show starts, and the day does not end until 8 at night. After that, we still have to eat dinner, conduct any business meetings that became necessary as a result of the day’s activities, and get back to the hotel in order to get a few hours of sleep before starting the process anew.
Yes, it is as fun as it sounds – which is to say it is akin to having your toe nails removed with very coarse sandpaper and then getting thrown into a pit full of lions who have had their teeth removed but retain the full extent of their jaw strength. The outcome is eventually the same as an encounter with normal lions, but the process is somewhat drawn out and ridiculous.
I’ve also had a healthy dose of homework to keep up with during my time in Miami (it’s I Maim if you say it backwards, and that’s precisely what this town does to your soul), so I’ve had little energy for writing. I promise to get back into the swing of things upon my return, so please stay tuned.
